Japanese “minyo” or folk music has its roots in older “Uta Asobi,” songs made from playing with words.
The folk music incorporates musical instruments to help express the power of song, the warm melody and the beauty of the lyrics.
Many people believe that this folk music is shamisen music.
However, for me, as a performer, it is more of an expression of musical representation.
